Molded Pulp: The Future of Sustainable Packaging

Molded pulp is transforming the packaging industry with its sustainable qualities and environmental benefits. Made from recycled materials such as paper and cardboard, molded pulp offers a reliable, eco-friendly alternative to plastic and styrofoam. At Trakya Pack, we offer high-quality molded pulp solutions that protect products and reduce environmental impact.

What is molded pulp? Molded pulp is a durable packaging material made from recycled paper, cardboard, and natural fibers. Using a specialized molding process, the material is shaped into custom forms that fit various products, from electronics to food items. This material is designed to be both lightweight, strong, and compact, making it ideal for companies looking to switch to sustainable and cost-effective packaging solutions.

Durable and adaptableDesigned to fit specific product shapes, molded pulp packaging provides excellent protection while optimizing the use of raw materials.

Widely applicableUsed for a variety of products such as electronics, furniture, food items, cosmetics, medical equipment, and more.

Eco-friendly and sustainableThe packaging is fully biodegradable, compostable, and supports the circular economy through its recyclability and use of renewable resources.

How do we produce our packaging? We use an advanced and environmentally oriented production process to turn recycled paper into a reliable and efficient packaging solution. Our approach includes every detail – from careful material selection to precise molding and finishing, ensuring high quality and optimal protection for your products. Focusing on sustainability and efficiency, our process not only minimizes waste but also ensures cost-effectiveness and resource reduction at every stage of production.

1. Collecting materials We collect recycled paper, including newspapers and cardboard, from local sources to support the local economy and reduce the carbon footprint.

2. Pulp production The collected paper is placed in a pulper along with water, which breaks down the material into fibers. The pulp is cleaned of impurities before continuing down the production line.

3. Product molding The mold is dipped into the pulp and the product is formed under vacuum. While the mold is under vacuum, the water drains away, forming the structure of the packaging.

4. Drying and quality control The molded products are dried and undergo final quality control to ensure they offer security and reliability during storage and transport.

Advantages ofmolded pulp packaging

Security and protectionMolded pulp offers excellent protection against shocks and vibrations, ensuring product security during transport and storage.

Efficient use of spaceThe three-dimensional design allows for compact storage, saving space during warehousing and transportation. This leads to lower logistics costs and more efficient use of resources.

Regulatory complianceComplies with European packaging standards, including the goals of the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation), ensuring regulatory compliance.

Reduction of eco taxes and fees Molded pulp is biodegradable and easily recyclable, which can lead to a reduction in environmental fees by up to 71%* and lower compliance costs with environmental regulations.

Customization for specific needs Packaging can be designed exactly to customer specifications – from shape and size to moisture and grease barriers, ensuring the packaging meets the unique requirements of the product.

Sustainability and environmental responsibilityMade from renewable resources, 100% biodegradable and compostable, the packaging is an eco-friendly alternative to styrofoam and expanded polyethylene products, reducing the carbon footprint.
